SMASH DRUMS for VR (Meta Quest) is great for de-stressing, cardio for some people, and SUPER-FUN! App store link: https://www.oculus.com/deeplink/?action=view&path=app/3630025217090808&ref=oculus_desktop
My review on the app store:
SMASH DRUMS has become an immensely satisfying and incredibly fun de-stressing ritual for me, especially during intense work days/weeks. Because I already sit way too much in front of the computer for work, I play the game standing up; an unexpected bonus, I find, especially when I get into flow state with the drumming, is that it forces me to move around a lot and increases my heart rate; I’m often sweaty by the end of a session just as I would be for a workout. I’m 50+ with zero drumming experience but have a musical background (taught piano, was in a band), have been looking for good music-making VR apps that go beyond the basics. I decided to try SMASH DRUMS after seeing Beardo Benjo’s review (https://youtu.be/kCYtXjTgHZM). Like others who have posted, I’d love to eventually see more types of music; I know licensing is an issue, of course. Would also love to see a quick point-and-click menu rather than have to hit drums to navigate – the latter is cute at first but gets tedious once you gain experience and just want to get into the drumming. 🙂 Looking forward to seeing future iterations of SMASH DRUMS, and kudos to the developers!
The developer responded soon after:
Thank you so much for the long review Inkygirl! I’m super pumped to announce you that the massive 2.0 update just dropped with 9 more songs aaaaaaaand… point&click menus for a vastly improved navigation between songs! See you soon in the online arena, I hope 🙂
